2019/2020 Season Show: Tween actors participating in our 2019/2020 Fall & Winter Sessions will be rehearsing for ETC’s version of ‘The Wizard of Oz’ which they will perform in late February/early March – we will announce show date as soon as possible. At the end of the Fall Session (Nov. 2019), tween actors will be participating in ETC’s Annual Fall Talent Show! Tween actors who join the Spring Session will be invited to participate in ETC’s Hollywood Stars Event and perform ETC’s version of ‘Grease‘.
Scripts & Songs: Actors will be given scripts for ‘The Wizard of Oz’ after Labor Day and we ask that they also practice at home outside of rehearsals 🙂 Actors will edit their scripts during class time with the assistance of instructors and shadows to make sure they are performing at their highest potential! ETC actors will assist in the selection of songs and choreography for their show. Actors will be taught the process of auditioning the first two weeks of the session and will be assigned roles for the show – all parts are equally important and fun at our ETC shows!
Description of Class: ETC theater classes teaches the three pillars of theater: acting, singing and dancing to all those with physical and developmental disabilities. Through theater games, improvisation, music and dance the program enhances verbal skills, improves movement, builds self-confidence, and advances socialization while stimulating free thinking. ETC creates options for personal growth by exploring all the learning opportunities theater has to offer. Actors, with the assistance from instructors and shadows, select their songs and edit and/or write their own scripts. Each individual class provides a setting for inclusion with the involvement of the entire community as volunteers; mostly high school students. The volunteers also known as shadows; work along with the special needs students on and off the stage.
